Privacy policy

Sitebend is a website builder. This page explains what personal data Sitebend keeps, why, who helps us handle it, and what you can ask of us. Sitebend is run by Versea, Kelbergenstraat 91, 3290 Diest, Belgium. Questions go to hello@sitebend.com.

If you have an account

We keep:

  • Your name, email address and password. The password is stored only as a one-way hash.
  • If you sign in with Google or Facebook: the name, email address and profile picture that service shares with us, and the sign-in token it gives us. We ask for nothing else.
  • For each sign-in: when it happened, your IP address and your browser's description, so you stay signed in and so we can spot abuse.
  • Everything you put in your sites: texts, pages, posts, products, images, settings and design files.
  • Your design chat history, so the chat remembers earlier changes and every change can be undone.

We use this to run your account and your sites, to send you the emails the service needs (such as a password reset or an email confirmation), and to keep the service secure. That is the contract between us. We do not sell your data, show ads, or use it for marketing.

If you visit a site made with Sitebend

Sites made with Sitebend use no tracking or advertising cookies. If you send a form on such a site, what you typed is stored and passed on to the site's owner by email or to a system they chose. The site's owner decides what happens with it next; contact them about it. For that data, Sitebend handles it on the owner's behalf.

Many sites load their fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser asks Google's servers for them and Google sees your IP address.

If you try Sitebend on our home page

What you type, or a picture you add, is sent to our AI provider to make the example you see. We do not store it. Your browser keeps your last examples on your own device, and you can clear them by clearing this site's data.

Cookies

Sitebend sets only the cookies it needs to work: one that keeps you signed in, one that lets your own sites show you the editing bar, and one that turns on editing. There are no analytics or advertising cookies.

Who helps us

  • Cloudflare hosts Sitebend, its database and its file storage. Images are stored in the EU.
  • Anthropic runs the AI behind the design chat, text generation, translation and the examples on our home page. It receives what you ask, with the parts of your site needed to answer, and does not train its models on it.
  • Resend sends Sitebend's emails and the emails for form submissions.
  • Google and Facebook, only if you choose to sign in with them.

Some of these companies are in the United States. Where data leaves the EU, it goes under safeguards the GDPR accepts, such as the EU's Standard Contractual Clauses.

How long we keep it

Account and site data stay until you delete them or ask us to. Sign-ins expire on their own. Form submissions stay until the site's owner deletes them. After a deletion, our database backups still hold a copy for up to 30 days, then it is gone.

Your rights

You may ask for a copy of your data, have it corrected, have it deleted, object to how we use it, or ask us to limit that use. Each site's Settings already has an export of everything in it. For anything else, email hello@sitebend.com from your account's address; we answer within 30 days. See how to delete your data. If you think we handle your data wrongly, you may complain to the data protection authority in your country.

Changes

When this policy changes, the date at the top changes too. If a change matters for how your data is used, we email account holders first.
